3 EASY Habits to TRANSFORM Your HEALTH

Posted by Alanzo Paul on

Hey Gentlemen!

Ok, New Year's has been over for a while now and most of us have long since given up on our quest for the infamous and often illusive '6 pack.' There's no shame in your game, while I was writing this blog I totally felt the same conviction many of you guys feel over a missed goal.
I've been chatting with trainers and doing some research in order to help us reach our fitness goals together. These 3 habits are extremely easy to incorporate into your daily routine and they are also extremely effect if consistently practiced.

2 habits involve eating and the other is exercise. Why? As we enter into this, remember this one statement: "Getting in shape starts in the kitchen". Yup, there's that convicted feeling again....

#1. - Shake That! Start the day with a healthy shake.
Why? - Loading up a shake first thing in the morning is a great way to make sure you're starting the day with proper nutrients. You're going to feel full and energetic.

My Personal Recipe

1 cup spinach or kale (you won't even taste it and it's jam pack with nutrients)
1 cup frozen mixed berries (keeps longer than fresh berries and contains the same anti-oxidants)
2 tsp of almond or peanut butter (the fat will keep you fuller, longer)
1-2 cups of chocolate almond milk (tastes good without a bunch of calories)
1/2 banana (the potassium will prevent you from cramping if you work out in the morning)
~Optional Extra~
1 tsp of instant coffee (boom-shaka-laka! This will put some boost in your juice!)
1/2 scoop of protein powder (you're body can only absorb 25 grams of protein at a time so don't waste your powder)
1 tsp of hemp hearts (the extra fiber will help you feel... lets call it ... regular.)

#2. - Have a Target Calorie Goal and Carbohydrate Goal
Why? - This takes some discipline but if you consistently hit your goals than you'll feel accomplished and much healthier. I suggest using MyFitnessPal app for the most accurate tracking.

#3. - Do Some Sort of Exercise Each Day - Sounds simple right? Whether its going to the gym for 30 minutes, a walk out side with your wife or child, a fitness video game, etc... You can always find a little bit of exercise each day.
Why? - This is great for keeping your blood moving, and keeping your muscles, tendons, and ligaments from getting stiff. The more exercise you do, the more energy you have, and the more energy you have, the more successful you can be each day. Don't forget to warm up and stretch :)

5 LIFE CHANGING Money Habits

Posted by Alanzo Paul on

Hey Gentlemen!

I'm absolutely pumped for today's blog post! We're talking about finances which is frequently overlooked by us men. I can totally relate, I've experienced debt that is seemingly insurmountable, as well as, the complexity of having money going out in a million different directions. Simply keeping your finances in the dark is not the answer. As men, we need to help our families and shine light on our finance. This takes courage but you can do it! We believe in you.

#1. - Pay Yourself First Each Pay Period
Why? - Honestly because you work so hard to earn it. Take 10% right off the top and place it in savings. Paying yourself first helps you progress financially and psychologically it helps you stay motivated.

#2. - Rainy Day Fund
Why? - For savings. My dad always taught me to have a 'rainy day fund.' That sure is wisdom when your car breaks down, furnace gives out, or some other unforeseen circumstance.

#3. - Can't go in debt paying CASH
Why? - Simple idea but revolutionary. If you have a problem going into your overdraft or over using credit cards. Withdrawal a premeditated amount of cash for entertainment, shopping, or eating out. Once this amount is gone stop spending until next your next pay period. This will dig you out of debt and is a reward for working hard.

My wife and I speaking. Finances is one of our favorite subjects, but it wasn't always like that.

#4. - The Come Back Strategy
Why? - Have you ever been in a store and seen something you really wanted? We all have. Often we've never thought about that item previously though so we can categorize that as an 'impulse buy.' These purchases add up overtime and can eat up your hard earned dollars quickly. The Come Back Strategy is this: if you're shopping and something catches your eye, leave it until the next day or week. If you really want that item, you'll remember to Come Back. If it was an impulse buy, you'll forget about it.

#5. - Give to people
Why? - The best investments are not in stocks and bonds but in people. The most satisfaction one can feel is not in buying another TV but in giving to someone in need. Material things have temporary satisfactions but investing into a person can have an eternal impact. This could be inviting the neighborhood kids over for a BBQ or paying for a college kid's text books. Good churches, charities, and the like, are also great investment because they are often helping in the local community. Do your research of course and you too can make an eternal impact with your finances.

6 SECRET Habits to IMPROVE Your Time Management

Posted by Alanzo Paul on

Hey Gentlemen!

I'm super excited to share these SECRET Habits with you today. I personally do these and they help me so much! Computers, cell phones, and microwaves were created in order to save us time in our everyday life. The problem is, we've packed more and more tasks into the day, making this the busiest generation ever. If you can relate, our last blog entitled: 7 Habits That Will Change Your Evenings Forever, will also really help you.

Since we can't stop, slow down, or manipulate time in any way, we're left with the tool of Time Management. Here are 6 of my favorite habits to help improve your everyday life!

#1. - Wake Up 30 Minutes Earlier Than Usual
Why? - Having the feeling of extra time in the morning leave you feeling one step ahead and less frustrated if something unexpected comes up. Dog barfing, scraping the car windows, etc.

#2. – Use Agenda and or Calender – schedule in all events, bills, TO DO’s, deadlines, etc.
Why? - Being on top of you responsibilities will keep you feeling organized, empowered, and prepared. One of the biggest stresses we can experience is "I forgot to buy birthday present for..." or  "Oh no the project is due today!" or even, "I didn't budget for my cell phone bill and its due today!" Do yourself a favor and plan for these things so you're always one step ahead.

#3. – While at your appointment, book then next one
Why? - You save time and one less item on the TO DO list. You will also be able to get an appointment time that works best for you rather than having to have whatever is left at the last minute. After, write it down on your calender.

#4. Phone Reminders are Brilliant
Why?-  Most phones can have multiple alerts for one scheduled event or task. Lets says its paying a bill or your anniversary, use your phone's calender to alert you one week in advance, one day in advance, and the day of.

#5. - Stop Procrastinating
Why? - This is the most practical and useful secret habit of successful people. When something needs to get done, just do it. We're all human and our tendency is "I'll do it later." You'll be way more accomplished, productive, and way less stressed than leaving things to the last minute.

#6. - Time for Yourself - Your best investment is into yourself
Why? - Simply schedule in 30 minutes or an hour each day depending on how busy you are. This could be a workout, meditation, reading a good book, listening to a Podcast, etc. I'd stay away from t.v., movies, or napping during this time because this time is an investment into yourself with the purpose of improvement and refreshment. When you're at 100% you'll be able to serve others better, love others better, and overall be more content with life.

7 Habits That Will Change Your Evenings Forever!!!

Posted by Alanzo Paul on

 Hey Gentlemen!

Your evening routine is a make or break when it comes to being productive, successful, and accomplishing your goals. We've been discussing habits to help you knock each day out of the park! If you're just tuning in now, check out our last blog called: 6 Habits to Make Every Morning a SUCCESS!!!

Since we've already covered morning habits, lets jump straight into habits about our evenings.

#1. - Set the table for breakfast the night before.
Why? - Like we said in our last blog, breakfast gives your body the necessary nutrients to start the day at full force. Also, you're going to snack less on junk food.

#2. - Write down a Plan for tomorrow – this will MAXIMIZE your next day's schedule.
Why? - The vast majority of successful people live by this habit. If you have a plan for the next day of what needs to be done, then you'll increase your probability of completing it. Resulting in feeling better and reaching your goals.

#3. - Charge your phone overnight.
Why? - ummm... why not? First, you'll never miss your alarm clock because your phone died while you slept. Second, you'll never run out of battery during the day. The busier you are with work and family, the more important this is.

#4. - Read - Even for 20 minutes.
Why? - Every single successful person will tell you that your mind needs to be fed and needs to grow in order to stay healthy. Also, this is a great way to unwind, relax, and fall asleep peacefully.

#5. - When you're in bed turn off the iPad, Netflix, or Xbox, etc.
Why? - Studies have proven that if you turn off your electronics before bed you'll sleep better and be more well rested in the morning.

#6. - Try and go to bed at the same time each day.
Why? - If you can regulate your sleep patterns you won't feel sluggish, unproductive, or have a feeling that you're already behind on the day.

#7. - Don't go to bed ANGRY at your loved ones.
Why? - They may have legitimately wronged you, failed you, or hurt you, I'm not denying that. But as men, we need to rise above and forgive quickly, shake off hurts, and love people for who they are not for what they have done. If you're struggling with anger, talk to your loved one about it and get help if need be. You deserve freedom from it. If you resolve issues before bed you'll wake up the next morning feeling way better than if you did something you regret. Peaceful homes are priceless.

5 Habits to Make Every Morning a SUCCESS!!!

Posted by Alanzo Paul on

Hey Gentlemen!

We want to start your year off right! The next few weeks we'll be blogging about steps and habits to help you crush every single day!!! Why create new habits? Recently, my wife and I took a relationship course and we discovered a PRICELESS piece of wisdom. Here is it: Women are driven  by relationships and men are driven by accomplishment.

This is critical. If you can maximize your day by implements a few easy habits, you're going to feel way more accomplished, content, and satisfied with your everyday life. You'll be a happier husband, boyfriend, son, etc.

HERE WE GO:

#1.  Make the bed each morning - Best done after your morning routine.
Why? -  This makes your bedroom feel clean and tidy and gives you a sense of order. A great way to start the day.

#2. Always have breakfast - A good size one too :)
Why? - Your body will have the necessary nutrients to start the day at full force. Also, you're going to snack less on junk food.

#3.  Unload the dishwasher each morning - so simply and so wise.
Why? - You'll start the day with an easy accomplishment and you can build momentum from there. I often listen to an audio book or podcast while doing this.

#4. Tidy up the house before you leave for work.
Why? - You will feel accomplished after this which will continue your good mood. Also, when you come home, you'll be much calmer because it's clean.

#5. Try and get up at the same time each day.
Why? - The hardest part about this is going to bed on time each night. If you can regulate your sleep patterns you won't feel sluggish, unproductive, or have a feeling that you're already behind on the day.
